Chassity L. McKee, 42, of 124 E. Brown Ave., was arrested Wednesday on an 18-count indictment for scamming two area men out of money.
She was arrested Wednesday and lodged in the Logan County Jail on charges including felony theft from the elderly, theft forgery and identity fraud.
In December, Logan County Sheriff’s Office detectives were contacted by a 60-year-old East Liberty victim whom she had befriended.
He told the detectives she had used his information to create false identification and take out credits cards and loans in his name without his consent during the previous year.
In January, Bellefontaine Police Department detectives were contacted by an attorney for an 82-year-old Bellefontaine man. It is alleged McKee used his bank card without permission and at one time was living in the man’s residence along with her mother and sister.
The indictments report the theft from the Bellefontaine victim was in excess of $37,000.
Both men were in and out of care facilities or in assisted living situations.
Investigators had to obtain subpoenas for financial records during the months-long investigation.
