West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team saw its offense give an electric performance Saturday in an 87-41 blowout over visiting Northeastern.
The Tigers remain unbeaten at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Heritage Conference standings. The Jets tumble to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the league.
WL-Salem raced out to a 29-12 advantage after the first quarter. The Tigers used an 18-6 run in the second quarter to coast to a 47-18 halftime cushion.
In the third quarter, WL-Salem went on a 23-11 run to boost its lead 70-29.
Lily Yoder fueled the Tigers with 18 points.
Also for the winners, Mikalia McIntosh had 14 points with six rebounds, Taylor Lauck had 10 points with four assist and four steals and Kelsey Day and Savannah Weaver each had eight points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem overwhelmed Northeastern 55-8. Mya King led the Tigers with 16 points and Hallie Strapp had 11 points.
The freshman game saw Minster defeat WL-Salem 35-12. Camrin Rice had nine points for the Tigers.
WL-Salem hosts Anna on Thursday for a non-league contest.
