West Liberty-Salem’s volleyball team saw its season come to an end Tuesday as Miami East recorded a three-set win 25-11, 25-21, 25-16 in a Division III sectional final at Brookville High School.
The third-seeded Tigers finish their season with a 19-6 record. The top-seeded Vikings improve to 17-8 and play in the district final Saturday against the Clermont Northeastern-Seven Hills winner at Northmont.
WL-Salem was without standout Alex Burton for the second straight tourney match because of a season ending injury.
For the Tigers on Tuesday, Michele Smith had five kills, 11 digs and was 9-9 serving, Chiara Podda had five kills, 10 digs and was 9-9 serving, Gabby Williams had 16 assists, five digs and was 8-8 serving, Ally Gaver had 15 digs and was 7-7 serving, Kaleigh Wilcox had nine digs and was 6-6 serving, Jaelen Meeker had seven digs and was 10-10 serving, while Selena Weaver tallied four kills and Aleah Reed chipped in three kills.
