Bellefontaine Intermediate School student Eva Wilson won the school’s spelling bee Tuesday by correctly spelling “torment” in the ninth round to become the champion.
William Campbell was spelling bee runner-up.
Both students have qualified for the Logan County Spelling Bee, slated for 6 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Holland Theatre.
Eva will also take an online spelling and vocabulary test in January to advance toward the Scripps National Spelling Bee. She is a daughter of Caleb and Karen Wilson. William is a son of Levi Campbell and Sarah Campbell.
Thirty-four fifth-graders competed in the bee, which took place in the gym. Fellow fifth-graders along with family members were spectators.
Lindy Martin was the moderator at BIS. Angie Horvath and Katie Davis were the judges.
Bellefontaine Middle School also hosted their spelling bee Wednesday, Dec. 7.
