William Savage, 66, chief chili maker, bargain hunter and backroad driver, left us way too soon on Friday morning, Sept. 28, 2018, at his home in Kenton.
The oldest son of Thomas Edward and Betty Lou Kreglow Savage was born Feb. 17, 1952, and he always took the long way home. Along the way, he taught us the true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good and that the ties that bind are the only ones that really matter. He was a simple man. And while he never achieved great fortune or fame, he was loved and will be remembered by his family and friends forevermore.
He is survived by his son, William “Buddy” Savage; his daughter, Kelly Savage Day; his grandchildren Rhonda, Emma and Wyatt Savage and Kate and Jack Day; and his two great-grandsons, Jaxon “Stonewall” and Brantley “Pickett” Womac; his brother, Ed; and sister, Helen Savage Lattimer.
A memorial service begins at noon Thursday, Oct. 4, at New Salem Church, 6646 State Route 540, Bellefontaine. Burial follows immediately in North Greenfield Cemetery through arrrangements by Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home.
