Rose Ann Shoemaker, 89, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at the Campbell Place.
She was born in Ripley on March 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Pauline Simmers Smith.
On Aug. 18, 1950, she married Robert H. “Bob” Shoemaker and he preceded her in death July 19, She is also preceded in death by her son, Michael “Mike” Shoemaker in 2017, a sister, Betty Smith; and a brother, John Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Nick) Menden of Dublin; a son, Tim (Bobbi) Shoemaker of Westerville; a daughter-in-law, Julie Shoemaker of Hilliard, six grandchildren, Eric (Talia) St. Clair, Jill (Lucas) Chamberlin, Timothy J. “TJ” (Erin) Shoemaker, Joy Shoemaker, Kristin Shoemaker and Olivia Menden; eight greatgrandchildren; Case, Reese, Addison, Christopher, Cameron, Haley, Briauna and Lucas; and several nieces and nephews.
Rose was a homemaker who loved to cook for her family and loved to host family gatherings, especially around the holidays. She also enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine, where she was active in the church’s small groups.
Pastor Randy Reed officiates a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine, where visitation is one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
