William Burke, 91, of DeGraff, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 23, 2017, at Green Hills Care Center.
Born in Sidney on Feb. 18, 1925, to the late William J. and Cora M. Crim Burke, he married Marian Midlam in 1945 in Clinton, Okla., and she died Dec. 8, 1973. He married Shirley Hall on Oct. 18, 1975, in DeGraff, and she died Aug. 14, 2016.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked as a tool grinder for 33 years at Rockwell International in Bellefontaine and four years at Boeing in Columbus. He was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church and the Quincy VFW Post 3528 where he was Quartermaster for many years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, NASCAR and radio-controlled model airplanes and boats.
Survivors include daughters, Karen (Terry) Heath of Quincy and Karol (Bob) Cummings of Belle Center; sons, Timothy D. (Kathy) Latimer and Jeffery L. (Valarie) Latimer, both of Bellefontaine, and Ken (Rita) Latimer of Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Eileen Schraedly of Mansfield; two sisters-in-law, Donna Williams of DeGraff and Marge Burch of Jackson Center; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff, where Pastor Michael Mitchell officiates a funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28. Burial is in Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.
