Willa Mae Redman Artis McGinnis, 98, of Bellefontaine, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
Willa Mae was born in Roundhead on Nov. 29, 1917, to the late Harley C. and Mary Ann Cane Redman.
On March 15, 1941, she married Henry H. Artis and he preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1977. On Jan. 10, 1981, she married Bernard G. McGinnis of Lima, and he also preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1998. Willa Mae also was preceded in death by her three sisters, Joanna Fleming, Matris Hassel and Margaret Nelson; and her three children, Henry E. Artis, Terry A. Artis and Mary Rose Artis Haithcock.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories a son, Larry W. (Daisy) Artis of Bellefontaine; a daughter, Margaret Artis Lewis of Bellefontaine; 11 grandchildren, Darrell Artis, Jermaine Artis, Mikey Wilson, Colin Lewis, Natasha Lewis, Michelle (Quinton) Nichols, Roger (Stacey) Corral, Morgan Lewis Young, Miles Lewis, Gordon E. Haithcock III and Bivian (Jose) Trevino; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Willa Mae was a member of the Auburn Avenue Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She loved her family, shopping and playing bingo.
Visitation is one hour prior to a funeral at noon Saturday, July 9, at the Auburn Avenue Baptist Church, 216 E. Auburn Ave., Bellefontaine, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Settle W. Townsend Jr. Burial is at Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
