Lee Wilcoxon, owner of Lee’s Roofing, was honored during March with his second Patriotic Employer Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense Program.
“The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures, including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed,” officials said in a letter of recognition.
“Patriot Awards are awarded to individual supervisors for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.”
He was nominated by Slayde Wilcoxon of the Ohio National Guard.
In his nomination letter, Slayde said, “I just got back from Syria for Operation Inherent Reserve/GWOT. During my time there, he (Lee) sent all of my platoon American flags and care packages. The flags were flown on our vehicles during a mission. Now all of my platoon has their own mission- flown flags that came home with us. “
Slayde also noted Lee’s Roofing’s annual veteran’s roof giveaway, which just marked its third year in 2023, and was previously featured in the Examiner.
“He does this because he knows how much our previous service members have done for us. Lee Wilcoxon is an outstanding supervisor and a true patriot.”
