A birthday observance devolved into execution of a felony arrest warrant and additional charges around 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, according to a report from officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Randall Fisher, 35, of Columbus, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, and was charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Officers were dispatched to a residence in the Bonnie Lane apartment complex on a report that Fisher was in a rear bedroom screaming and would not come out. Residents at the apartment told police they had Fisher over to the apartment to recognize his birthday, but then he began showing signs of drug abuse.
Officers made contact with Fisher and reported he was very fidgety and was sweating profusely.
A Bellefontaine medic was dispatched to check Fisher’s vitals and he checked OK. Soon, dispatch advised there was an outstanding Franklin County warrant for Fisher.
Police attempted to serve the warrant and Fisher became belligerent, screaming and resisting police.
Residents in the apartment attempted to calm him down without success. Another police unit responded and officers held Fisher down to restrain him.
Once in the cruiser he continued to spit at and curse officers. Once at the Logan County Jail, he had to be restrained in a restraint chair.
