ROSALIE KENNEDY |
Rushsylvania woman has been charged with murder in connection with a reported shooting death of her husband late Friday and her case may go before a Logan County grand jury this week.
Rosalie Kennedy, 62, is being held in the Logan County Jail on a single murder charge for shooting and killing her husband, Gary L. Kennedy, 66, Sheriff Randy Dodds reported early Saturday.
The initial 911 call came in at 10:35 p.m. from the couple’s residence at 8100 Township Road 110.
According to radio communications Friday night, Mrs. Kennedy admitted to shooting him during what may have been a domestic dispute. No official statement on the wife’s motive has been released, however.
When deputies arrived, the suspect was ordered out of the house and was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Kennedy was found dead on the floor of the kitchen.
Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart said his office obtained a search warrant for the residence in the early morning hours Saturday.
With a search warrant, investigators were able to proceed with gathering evidence from the scene, Mr. Stewart said.
Law enforcement responded Friday night to this 8100 Township Road 110, Rushsylvania, home. Gary L. JKennedy, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Logan County Coroner’s Office had responded and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations was contacted to help local detectives process the scene, Sheriff Dodds said.
The couple was involved in at least one prior domestic dispute that dates back 20 years to the month.
On March 21, 1997, both Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy were charged with domestic violence for an incident at the 8100 T.R. 110 property. Mr. Kennedy was arrested by sheriff’s deputies, while Mrs. Kennedy was issued a summons at the time, according to the Examiner report of the incident.
Bellefontaine Municipal Court records indicate Mr. Kennedy was convicted of disorderly conduct, while the charge against Mrs. Kennedy was dismissed. It is the only criminal or traffic offense by either party in the online court database, which contains records from the mid-1980s forward.
