More than 1,000 Dayton Power & Light electric customers in Logan County were also without power shortly after the storm. About 60 customers remained without power Friday night.
“We were out in the garage when the winds started blowing and then the electric went down,” Jack Beair, a resident of 228 N. Park St., said after the storm. “When I looked out back there was a tree down on the wires.”
A large walnut tree between his home and 224 N. Park St. was uprooted and downed, but it fell safely away from any structures.
The storm, however, damaged a storm window, lawn decorations and a flag pole, he and his wife Karen said as they sat with family on the porch of their home as they waited for the power to be restored.
“We’re lucky we didn’t have any more damage than we did,” Mrs. Beair said.
