It did not take long for Trent Schmucker to make a good impression on West Liberty-Salem head football coach Dan McGill.
“I knew I had something special in Trent when, as a freshman, he would show up to two-a-day practices on his moped as early I did, just to make sure he was ready for the day,” said McGill.
Four years later, Schmucker is headed to play college football at the NCAA Division II level. A standout lineman, the 6-4, 275-pounder signed a letter of intent with Ohio Dominican University on Tuesday.
McGill was not surprised to see the hard-working Schmucker earn the interest of college football programs.
“Trent is a big, physical player who is easy to coach and does things the right way,” said McGill. “Ohio Dominican is a great Division II program and I believe Trent is a great fit for their program.”
