Raiders cut down Urbana 42-20 to stop losing skid

Homecoming will have a little extra excitement for Benjamin Logan tonight after the Raiders snapped a five-game losing skid Friday with a 42-20 win over visiting Urbana.
The Raiders improve to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division. The Hillclimbers remain winless at 0-7, 0-2.
It was a good night for the Raiders offense as it tallied 431 total yards. Quarterback Tanner Perkins completed 10-of-22 passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 32 yards and touchdown on six carries.
On the ground, the Raiders’ Kainan Stoner piled up 240 rushing yards and two TDs on 26 carries.
Three scores in the first quarter spring boarded Ben Logan out to an 18-0 lead. Perkins threw 59-yard and 10-yard TD passes to Kaidin Whitrock, while Stoner added an 8-yard TD run.
In the second quarter, Perkins tossed a 1-yard TD pass to Stoner with 10:45 left to go until the break to give the Raiders a 24-0 halftime lead.

West Liberty-Salem stumbles to Fairbanks 26-20

West Liberty-Salem’s undefeated season came to a halt Friday as host Fairbanks jumped ahead early and held on for a 26-20 win over the Tigers in Ohio Heritage Conference North Division play.
The Tigers, who are ranked 10th in the latest Division V state poll, fall to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the league. The Panthers move to 5-2, 2-0.
Friday’s game turned out to be another close battle between WL-Salem and Fairbanks. The past two meetings were decided by just three points.

Lakers unable to contain Warriors’ rushing attack in 20-14 CBC Mad River loss

Indian Lake’s defense could not find a way to stop Northwestern standout running back Ben VanNoord as he carried the Warriors to a 20-14 win Friday in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division play at Laker Stadium.
A junior, VanNoord piled up 200 rushing yards on 30 carries and had all three of his team’s touchdowns. The Warriors are now 4-3 overall and 2-0 in league play.
The Lakers fall to 3-4, 0-2.

Riverside holds on for 6-0 win over Waynesfield-Goshen
Six points were all Riverside’s football team needed to come away with a win Friday as the Pirates clawed their way to a 6-0 Northwest Central Conference victory over host Waynesfield-Goshen.
The Pirates improve their record to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the league. The Tigers have now lost two in a row to slide to 5-2, 2-2.
“I’m beyond proud of this group,” said RHS head coach Bryce Hodge. “It’s hard to explain how proud of them I am right now. We talked about finishing games and we did that tonight.
“Our defense got some big stops late in the game. We were pinned down in our own territory and they bailed us out a lot. These guys did a good job.”

State-ranked Mechanicsburg dumps Triad 44-7 in OHC meeting
Triad’s football team found itself outmatched at home Friday as stateranked Mechanicsburg dominated the action for a 44-7 victory in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Cardinals drop to 2- 5 overall and 0-2 in the OHC standings. The Indians, who are ranked 10th in the Division VI state poll, improve to 6-1, 1-1.
