Jon Alder rallies past Ben Logan

The Raiders got off to a hot start and led 24-7 in second quarter, but the Pioneers battled back in the second half to emerge with the win.
The Pioneers are 3-1 on the season. The Raiders slip to 2-2.
Offensively for Ben Logan, Coy piled up 338 passing yards and four touchdowns on 23 completions. Grant Ward was his top target as he finished with 226 receiving yards on nine catches. Waugh added 44 receiving yards and Nolan Robson had 43 receiving yards.
WL-Salem punishes Springfield Catholic Central
West Liberty-Salem’s football team used a key third quarter to help seal a 44-7 win over host Springfield Catholic Central on Friday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Tigers, who are ranked 11th in the latest Division VI state poll, stay perfect at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the OHC. The Irish fall to 2-2, 1-1.
WL-Salem recorded 169 yards on the ground and 376 total yards of offense.
The Tigers’ defense was also stellar, limiting SCC to just 96 total yards of offense.
Senior wide receiver Levi Moell scored three times for the Tigers on Friday. Braden Miller finished with 110 rushing yards on 13 carries, while Moell had 49 rushing yards on two carries and 141 receiving yards on seven catches. Cam Miley added 61 receiving yards on one grab.
Defensively for the Tigers, Major Stratton had nine tackles and Tevon McNutt had six tackles.
Riverside runs wild on Elgin
Riverside relied on its punishing ground attack to hammer host Elgin 53-20 on Friday in its Northwest Central Conference opener.
The Pirates (2-2) amassed 427 rushing yards on just 19 carries. Senior tailback Gaven Anderson highlighted the night with 283 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just six carries.
In addition to the big night fo Anderson, the Pirates’ offense saw Luke Roby finish with 112 rushing yards on seven carries.
Defensively, Gavin Stallard and Nick Hall each had 10 tackles, Darrick Cotterman had nine tackles, while Joel Cotterman and Andrew Racine each had eight tackles.
Braves put end to Lakers’ winning streak
Big plays by Springfield Shawnee ended Indian Lake’s 18-game regular season win streak Friday as the Braves sprinted past the Lakers 41-7 in a Central Buckeye Conference crossover football game.
With the loss, the state-ranked Lakers are now 3-1. The Braves move their record to 2-2.
Running back Jack McCrory powered the Braves’ offense with 245 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback Robie Glass had 160 rushing yards and three touchdown runs.
Shawnee finished with 514 yards of total offense, 458 of that coming on the ground.
Clay Jacobs led the Lakers’ offense with 98 passing yards and Connor Dixon had 25 rushing yards. Dylan Knotts added 57 receiving yards and Dolan Miller had 48 receiving yards.
Lehman Catholic races past Ridgemont
State-ranked Lehman Catholic dominated host Ridgemont 62-8 on Friday in a Northwest Central Conference football game.
The Cavaliers, ranked 18th in the latest Division VII state poll, improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the NWCC. The Gophers remain winless at 0-4, 0-1.
Ethan Mouser threw for 87 yards and a touchdown to pace Ridgemont’s offense. Tyrese Patterson had 51 receiving yards on six catches and a touchdown, while L.J. Jackson added a two-point conversion run.
Defensively, Mouser had eight tackles and one interception and Patterson added five tackles.
