Driver charged with OVI
Cody Reed, 29, of Huntsville, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs following a traffic stop Saturday in the area of U.S. Route 33 near Sunnyside Avenue in Russells Point.
Officers originally were dispatched to the Midway Marathon gas station on a report of an intoxicated male at the business.
The suspect left in a vehicle, and a description of that vehicle was provided to officers. Law enforcement eventually caught up with the suspect and initiated the traffic stop.
Signs of intoxication were observed, and field sobriety tests were attempted, but not successfully completed.
Reed reportedly acknowledged to officers that he should not have been driving. He was initially transported to the jail, where he registered a .127 blood-alcohol content.
He was charged with OVI and released to a sober driver.
