PARMER |
Scott D. Parmer, 46, at large, faces multiple charges after an 8:30 p.m. traffic stop Wednesday.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department observed him stop a car beyond the pavement stop bar at Heritage Court and Ludlow Road. The officer followed Parmer northbound and tried to initiate a stop at Ludlow and Eastern Avenue.
Parmer ignored the cruiser’s flashing lights, turned eastbound and continued on until he was near Hayes Street. The officer approached the driver’s side, and during an initial conversation with Parmer, the motorist allegedly said,
“I gotta go,” rather than follow the officer’s order to shut off his car.
Parmer drove off eastbound.
The officer ran back to his cruiser and pursued Parmer.
Parmer turned north onto Hayes and then west onto Chillicothe Avenue. He drove to a private drive, in the 500 block of east Chillicothe, exited the car and took off on foot.
Other officers including the department canine unit converged on area bounded by Powers and Standley streets and Columbus and Chillicothe avenues.
The police dog tracked the suspect to a row of bushes on the west side of 433 E. Chillicothe where Parmer was found curled up and hiding.
He was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and a probation violation. Officers also charged him with failure to comply with a police order, obstructing official business and illegal possession of a prescription drug after a small plastic bag containing three pieces of a pill used for treating heroin addiction was found in his car.
He told officers he ran because he knew he was wanted on warrants and didn’t want to lose his job.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
