WHITING |
Chase M. Whiting, 26, of 555 Newell St., Apt. 5, was served Tuesday with warrants for tampering with evidence, illegal possession of prescription drugs, possession of cocaine and three counts of failure to appear.
He was located at 405 Seymour St. after a neighboring resident complained of a vehicle parked in his drive.
Officers surrounded the residence and ordered Whiting to exit. He tried to escape out a window but stopped when he realized the residence was indeed surrounded by officers.
He continued to ignore orders until officers announced they would send in the department’s police dog. Even as he exited a backroom, he remained uncooperative as he refused to stop talking on a cellular phone.
Rather than charge in or send the police dog, officers maintained a conversation with the suspect and held their positions for nearly 50 minutes before Whiting surrendered.
