Phillip E. Griffith Jr., 49, of Greenup, Ky., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a single-vehicle crash involving his truck and flatbed trailer early this morning on State Route 274.
Deputies report he was operating an eastbound truck about 12:50 a.m. near County Road 21 when he drove off the left side of the road, came back onto the road and crossed the center line. The truck then drove off the left side again, struck several trees and caused moderate damage to the vehicle.
The driver did not report any injuries. Deputies observed that he displayed signs of intoxication, and field sobriety tests were administered. At the Logan County Jail, he refused to take a breath test.
Griffith also was cited for driving left of center and failure to control.
• Brian Hunt, 39, of 215 Powers Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged with OVI during a traffic stop in the city of Bellefontaine about 10:55 p.m. Friday.
Deputies observed a stop sign violation with his vehicle in the area of east Columbus Avenue and north Hayes Street and he also failed to signal while completing a turn onto Chillicothe Avenue.
The driver displayed signs of intoxication during the traffic stop, and he refused to take field sobriety tests. Inside his vehicle, deputies observed an open pack of alcoholic beverages.
At the jail, he also refused to take a breath test. He was released to a sober person and also was cited for a stop sign violation and a turn signal violation.
