Bridges Community Action Partnership, in conjunction with the IRS, offers volunteer tax preparation services in Logan County, and seeks volunteers who want to learn how to prepare tax returns for low-to-moderate income families.
Volunteers work a few hours a week, usually from mid-January through the end of the tax filing season in April. No prior experience is required and training is provided.
The IRS sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs. This past filing season, volunteers for those programs prepared 3.7 million tax returns.
In Logan County, volunteers saved local taxpayers more than $46,000 in tax preparation fees that saw more than $391,000 refunded to local residents.
