Viola “Via” Millward, 76, of Bellefontaine, formerly of Xenia, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at her residence.
She was a daughter of the late Edward Umbaugh and Mae Newill Umbaugh Milliron of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 42 years, Wilmer “Wil” Millward, and second husband, William Ashe; two brothers Edward Jr. in 1926 and Raymond Umbaugh in 1949; and grandson, Aiden Mann.
Family surviving are a much beloved brother, Lawrence Umbaugh of Xenia; children, William (Lori) Millward of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cindy (Richard) Reeves of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Melissa Millward, Tiffany (Travis) Mann, Jessica (Brent) McCarty, Wesley Read, Ansley Read and Skyllar King; great-grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Kaylie Heath, Gaige, Lane and Ava Reeves, Ethan Millward, Haley Allen, Michael Roof, Gavin and Ava Mann, Lucy, Lily and Lola McCarty; her beloved cat, Kiki; and numerous nieces, nephews and family to remember and all very much loved by Vi.
She was a beloved mother and grandmother who was a treasured blessing to her family and a breath of fresh air to her friends that knew her. Vi and husband Bill traveled together, managed campgrounds, spent winters in Florida as long as health would allow, a blessing to both.
She was a hairdresser in Xenia and Beavercreek and was an active member of the Xenia Hospitality Squares from 1974 to 1993. She was blessed with her family and her many friends. An active member of the Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Xenia and worshipped in the Zanesfiled Methodist Church, enjoyed being a member of the choir, doing solos and was blessed with the members of the church. She enjoyed making greeting cards also in her pastime.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Tobias Funearl Home — Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road, where calling is from 11 a.m. Interment is in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
