FERGUSON-CATLETT |
A loaded firearm and suspected drugs were recovered Wednesday by officers of the Washington Township Police Department following a traffic stop initiated about 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and Township Road 94.
Tyitia Ferguson-Catlett, 20, of Columbus, originally was stopped because a check of her license plate revealed she may be driving under suspension. Upon making contact, police reports indicate other criminal indicators were observed and Washington Township police reportedly asked to search the vehicle, and the suspect consented. A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded nine millimeter handgun, suspected crack cocaine and marijuana and dollar bills, “in denominations consistent with drug activity,” according to a law enforcement report.
The suspect was charged with driving under suspension, as well as felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a concealed weapon, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
