John R. Reichert, 60, of Maria Stein, did not report any injuries following a rollover crash Thursday afternoon 10300 block of State Route 47 in Pleasant Township.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound pickup about 2:30 p.m. when he failed to maintain control on a curve and went off the right side of the road, first striking a mailbox, and then a guardrail. His vehicle continued through the guardrail and struck a small pine tree and a concrete culvert.
The pickup rode on top of the culvert to a creek area and struck a hill, causing the vehicle to overturn onto its side. The vehicle then slid down the slope of the hill and came to rest at the east edge of the creek.
Damage was heavy to the pickup, which was towed from the scene. The driver, who was checked at the scene by Quincy EMS but was not transported, was wearing his seat belt and he was cited for failure to control.
