RICHARDSON |
Cincinnati authorities have recovered the van that was driven the night a 2009 Bellefontaine High School graduate was shot outside the bar where she worked.
Elizabeth “Ellie” Richardson remains hospitalized but her condition has improved, Cincinnati Police Department spokesman Lt. Steve Saunders said.
She was shot in the face in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving day outside of Lachey’s Bar, where she works. Richardson reportedly approached the driver’s side window of a van that was driving in the area and engaged the driver in a heated exchange that ended in a shot being fired.
The driver is described as a black male in his 20s with gold-rimmed glasses and a thin beard. While the van was located Wednesday, authorities have not yet arrested a suspect, Lt. Saunders said. They are not disclosing where or how the van was discovered.
“The next step is to find the shooter,” the police spokesman said. “People are providing a lot of tips. It’s a sad situation and we’re working around the clock to determine who the shooter is.”
Nick Lachey, the celebrity owner of the bar where Richardson was working, is reportedly assisting the family with medical expenses.
