It’s a rare occasion that voters get to vote on a measure that could actually save them money.
But a “yes” vote on a November ballot issue could do just that, those proposing the measure say.
Specifically, voters in Bellefontaine, Belle Center, DeGraff and Quincy — along with voters in nine other western Ohio communities — will vote on utility aggregation issues.
If approved, the issue will allow Affordable Gas and Electric to bargain on behalf of the communities for the best available utility rate.
Jeffrey Haarmann and Jordan Haarmann of AGE have been explaining the issue at ongoing public hearings, including ones before this week’s Bellefontaine and Belle Center council meetings.
“Vote ‘yes’ for lower electricity rates,” Jeffrey Haarmann, the spokesman at the Bellefontaine meeting said. “Assuming everyone passes the vote, we will be able to pull together 13 communities to negotiate for the best rate.”
