WICKERSHAM |
Logan County Commissioner Dustin Wickersham announced he will not seek re-election in 2018.
His announcement came in the form of a July 18 letter on his campaign letterhead. (click link for letter)
While he cites personal concerns as his reason for deciding not to run for a third term, the letter hints that he may seek some other form of public office.
“After a lot of reflection and discussion with my family, I have decided not to seek another term as Logan County Commissioner. There are several reasons but it mainly comes down to balancing family time, my passion for flying and the best way to serve the public,” Wickersham wrote.
“It has been an amazing and exciting experience with a lot of challenges and a lot of change — from finishing the Homestead at Logan Acres, strengthening the county’s financial position, working to repair and renovate the courthouse and the list goes on. Over the years there have been difficult decisions, but I will leave office knowing I did what was right for the public.
“It is no secret that public service comes at a high price. I feel that it is time to pursue new adventures. I am confident that I will someday seek elected office again, and possibly sooner than I imagine, but I am excited to see what the future holds. I have a passion for public service and look forward to finding a place to continue that passion again soon.”
Wickersham was first elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. His current term expires Dec. 31, 2018.
