An employee of the Logan County Engineer’s Office injured Monday morning while cutting a tree is expected to recover from a head injury, Engineer Scott Coleman reports.
Greg Kennaw, an 11-year employee of the engineer’s office, was flown from the scene by a CareFlight helicopter to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
Crews were cutting trees along County Road 60 near County Road 54 at about 9 a.m. when the accident happened, Mr. Coleman said. He was reportedly struck in the forehead beneath the hardhat by a tree that recoiled while being cut with a chainsaw.
“He is doing well and is responsive and all indications is that he will recover fine, but he will require some time off work,” Mr. Coleman said.
“We try to work safely to prevent accidents but, unfortunately, things do happen when you’re out in the field working like this every day.”
