Indian Lake’s wrestling team placed six wrestlers and came away with a fifth-place finish Saturday at the Washing Court House pool tournament.
New Lexington won the 10-team tournament with 260.5 points, Washington Court House was runner-up with 233.5 points, Amanda-Clearcreek took third with 214 points, Kenton Ridge was fourth with 128 points and Indian Lake finished with 104 points.
Hayden Pummel and Lane Mefford led Indian Lake with tournament titles.
Pummel won the 170-pound weight class by going 5-0 with three pins and beat New Lexington standout Layne Talbot 9-8 in the finals.
Mefford won the 182-pound weight class by going 4-0 with four first-period pins.
Placing third for the Lakers were Nate Cummins (132) with a pin in the finals, while fifth-place efforts came from Noah Steed (138), Gage Lowery (182) and Grayson Dowsden (195).
Indian Lake hosts Benjamin Logan on Friday morning for the area’s first in-school dual. Wrestling starts at 11 a.m.
