MARYSVILLE — The Union County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a phone scam, where multiple Union County residents have received calls from individuals impersonating a deputy.
Individuals reportedly are making fraudulent calls wherein the caller attempts to obtain money by representing themselves as a Union County deputy. However, officials note that the Union County Sheriff’s Office does not call the public over the phone and tell them they owe money.
Scam artist use tactics to scare honest people into believing they will be arrested if they don’t pay money, Union County Sheriff Malcum J. “Jamie” Patton said. Tell them you are hanging up and calling your local sheriff’s office. Call (937) 645-4110 to report this scam.
