
Two representatives of the American Legion Harold Kerr Post 173 of Bellefontaine recently were installed as newly elected department officers and district officers of the Ohio Department of American Legion during the Department Convention July 9-11 in Independence, Ohio.
Ruth Peters was installed as the president of the Second District American Legion, which covers the following counties: Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Shelby and Van Wert.
There are 21 auxiliary units in the Second District. The district president is the chairman for district membership

In addition, Logan County Commander and Post 173 Trustee Tim Shaw was installed as the first vice commander of the Second District American Legion. There are 37 Legion Posts in the Second District. The first vice commander is responsible for the membership of the Second District.
All Department of Ohio officers and district officers were installed by the first woman National Commander Denise Rohan (Wisconsin – 2017-2018).
Additionally, history was made in the Ohio American Legion with the installation of the first woman Department of Ohio Commander Jean Wilson.
