Two men were charged after officers found a white powdery drug and a handgun during a 11:55 p.m. traffic stop Saturday in the 300 block of Lawrence Street.
James S. Norris, 29, of 508 Limestone St., was charged Saturday with having weapons under disability and possession of drugs. He also was cited for no driver’s license.
Austin Tyler Navarro, 26, of Dunkirk, was charged with possession of drugs.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department initiated the stop after observing the car westbound on Sandusky Avenue near Detroit Street traveling faster than the posted 25-mph limit.
A plastic bag with white powder was found in a drink container while two loaded magazines for the handgun were found in the passenger compartment. The handgun was found in the trunk of the car.
Both were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Three face underage consumption charges
James W. Austin, 20, of 317 N. Detroit St.; Slate Lenhart, 18, of 204 Miami Ave.; and a 13-year-old Bellefontaine boy each was charged Saturday with underage consumption of alcohol after officers checked on two parked pickup trucks around 9:30 p.m. at Ratleff Park, 300 S. Springhill St.
Austin and Lenhart were operators of the pickup trucks and all three admitted to drinking alcohol in the park.

Riemke Melzer, 129 Plumvalley St., reported Sunday two campaign signs for Democratic Party presidential candidate Joe Biden were stolen from her yard around 6:20 p.m.
