Trooper Spencer Groves was selected by his peers at the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol as the 2018 Post Trooper of the Year.
This honor is bestowed upon one trooper per year at each patrol post throughout the state.
Trooper Groves joined the patrol in October 2016 as a member of the 161th Academy Class. He earned his commission March 24, 2017, and was assigned to the Marysville Post.
The honoree also received the Criminal Patrol Award in 2018 and has been recognized by his peers for his continuous efforts to keep Ohio’s roadways safe.
The Post Trooper of the Year is awarded to the trooper who exemplifies what it means to be an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper. He or she must possess technical knowledge of the job, maintain good morale, have good communication skills, demonstrate resourcefulness and work toward the division’s goals and objectives.
The selected trooper must represent the division in a professional manner and adhere to the core values throughout their personal and professional life.
