Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report two men and a woman were charged with possession of methamphetamine as a result of a traffic stop Tuesday evening.
Driver Michael L. Driscol, 67, of 11251 County Road 106, Belle Center; and passengers Robert K. Smith, 30, of 327 S. Miami St., Quincy, and Dessie M. McCourt, 27, of 357 Carlisle St., Quincy, each were lodged in the Logan County Jail on the charges.
Deputies on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 33 and Lincoln Boulevard in Russells Point about 8 p.m. observed Driscol’s vehicle make a right turn onto State Route 366 without signaling and also cut the corner too short. The traffic stop was initiated on S.R. 366 along the wildlife area.
During the stop, deputies learned that Smith had an active warrant for his arrest through Shelby County for a probation violation.
K9 Thor also alerted on the driver’s side door of the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted. In the center console, deputies located a “bubble style” glass pipe with burn marks and suspected drug residue.
Also in a backpack near where McCourt had been seated, deputies located a black box containing numerous items of drug paraphernalia, including glass pipes with white powder residue. A jewelry style box also was seized that contained a white powder residue inside a tray and in a plastic container.
All three defendants were placed under arrest.
