Courtney M. Notestine, 25, of 230 Stephenson St., Lakeview, and Roman J. Herron, 21, of North Lewisburg, each was arrested for possession of a controlled substance related to a traffic stop about 8:15 p.m. Monday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 68 near Township Road 175 in West Liberty observed a southbound vehicle operated by Notestine, and deputies were aware that her driver’s license was suspended following contact with her on a traffic stop April 23.
While speaking with Notestine, she informed deputies that she needed to drive because her passenger, Herron, needed a ride to Springfield. She provided consent for deputies to search the vehicle.
Deputies located two cigarette packs in the glove box and one of the cigarette packs contained a white crystal-like substance. Neither Notestine nor Herron would tell deputies what the substance was.
Both defendants were placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail, where Notestine admitted during an interview that the white substance was methamphetamine residue and she said the cigarette box belonged to her.
West Liberty Police Department officers also assisted on the traffic stop.
