Jeremiah F. Carman, 37, of 117 N. Main St., DeGraff, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop Saturday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were on patrol in the area of State Route 235 and Township Road 75 about 9 p.m. when they observed Carman fail to dim his high-beam headlights as he approached, and noticed that his vehicle did not have functional license plate lights.
During the traffic stop, the driver reportedly did not notice a deputy standing by his passenger side door for about one minute, and the deputy observed that Carman was not wearing his seat belt.
Signs of intoxication were observed, and he agreed to submit to field sobriety tests. At the Logan County Jail, he refused to take any chemical tests. He also was cited for violations relating to seat belt usage, failure to dim and license plate light required, and was released to a family member.
• Steven A. Polley, 18, of 920 State Route 708, Russells Point, was cited for driving under a license forfeiture suspension and driving left of center during a traffic stop early Sunday morning, during which deputies also recovered numerous empty pill cap- sules with powder residue and syringes.
Deputies observed his vehicle about 1:50 a.m. in the area of U.S. Route 33 and State Route 708, when he reportedly “revved” his engine while passing a deputy’s cruiser. His vehicle then was observed making a marked lanes violation, and deputies initiated a traffic stop, with Polley reportedly pulling into his own driveway.
Deputies said Polley exited his vehicle very quickly and attempted to head toward his residence. While speaking with deputies, he refused to provide consent to search his vehicle. A Waynesfield Police K-9 responded and hit on the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, the pill capsules with an unknown powder residue and several syringes were located.
Criminal charges are pending the identification of the powder substance.
