Tom was born Aug. 11, 1930, in Middleburg the son of James and Grace (Stubbs) Spain. He was a long time member of the Middleburg United Methodist Church.
Tom will always be remembered first for the love he had for his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He loved teaching them about farming, horses, hunting, fishing, water skiing, boating and camping. Many family trips to Cumberland Lake were among his fondest memories. His love of music was shared with so many, and his guitar and bass playing was heard often in his community. His ever present desire to turn every situation into a joke will forever be remembered by anyone that knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Christine (Stayrook) Spain; daughter, Marsha (Tom) Park of Russells Point; son, Jim (Ann) Spain of East Liberty; grandchildren, Angela (Jeff) Grose, Cynthia (Eric) Wills, Tabitha (Anthony) Jenkins, Amber (Shannon) King, Maryann (Dan) McGill and Krista (Jonathan) Winn; along with 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Donna Spain and Delores Simpson.
