Tobias Garrett Brugler died this past week in his Astoria, New York City, apartment from a recent illness. The specific cause and date of death are still being determined by the NYC Medical Examiner.
Toby, 34, is survived by his parents, Ronald and Valerie Brugler of Cleveland, formerly of Zanesfield; sister, Jessie Brugler, also of Astoria; grandmother, Jean Sutherland Brugler; aunts and uncles, Carolyn (Don) Ropp, Ivon (Cherie) Brugler, John (Sally) Brugler, Bruce Larson, Louie LoBianco, Mark (Elaine) Brugler, Vicky Wilson and numerous cousins of Ohio and Michigan.
Toby, born in Pittsburgh, Pa., graduated from Eastwood Collegiate and Conestoga College, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, and Per Scholas, the Bronx, NYC. He was an excellent computer technician, having worked at the United Nations, Newedge Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Turnaround for Children.
He loved science fiction, physics and advanced computer games. He was a kind and gentle giant of a person. He believed in seeking happiness and living kindness. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service begins at 4 p.m. July 21 at the Almont New Church Assembly, Almont, Mich. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, www.amnh.org/join-support/donate-online.
