West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team ended its stellar regular season with a stellar fourth quarter Monday in a 62-47 win over host Kenton Ridge on Monday in non-league play.
The Tigers end the regular season with an impressive 19-3 overall record. The Cougars end their regular season at 16-6.
WL-Salem battled past Kenton Ridge in the first quarter for a 15-13 lead. The Cougars stayed even with the Tigers in the second quarter at 10-10, which left WL-Salem ahead 25-23 at the break.
The third quarter saw WL-Salem hold off Kenton Ridge 15-12. That allowed the Tigers to maintain a 40-35 advantage. WL-Salem pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 22-12 run that sealed the win.
Jamie Peterson recorded another double-double for the Tigers with 19 points and 17 rebounds, Mikalia McIntosh also had 19 points and Lily Yoder tallied 12 points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem edged Kenton Ridge 34-31. Laine Godwin led the Tigers with eight points.
WL-Salem begins tournament play Saturday against Triad at Franklin-Monroe High School.
