Thomas J Wiant, 86, went home to be with the lord Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, from his residence in Cincinnati. He was born September 15, 1934, to J. Wendell and Ruth (Waddell) Wiant in Marion.
Thomas married Ilo Lavaun Perry on June 25th, 1961, at Jenkins Chapel, Cable. He is survived by his daughter, Julia Marie (David) Baker, one special grandson Thomas Michael, nephews Steve and Tim (Cindy) Wiant, niece Sandy (Danny) Gaver. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ilo Wiant, a son Brian Douglas Wiant and brother Charles G. (Carolyn) Wiant.
Mr. Wiant served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He worked 35 years on the family dairy farm, along with maple syrup production. He was employed by Trutec, Urbana, for six years, and spent seven years doing volunteer Christian construction work with Mobile Missionary Assistance Program (MMAP) as he and Ilo traveled with their RV to 14 different states.
Tom loved serving the Lord and for 38 years was an active member of Union Chapel Community Church, West Liberty. Now, a present member of Tri-County Baptist Church, West Chester, where the funeral service is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Graveside service will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg, Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to either church or to Gideon’s International.
