Deputies met with a 77-year-old Belle Center woman Thursday regarding a complaint of a telephone scam.
She reported she received a call May 30 from an individual claiming to represent Choice Energy, who told her she needed to change her electricity provider from Dinergy to Liberty Power. The caller told her if she did not comply, her electricity would be turned off.
The victim said she’d had recent health issues and was concerned about her electricity being disconnected, so she provided her bank information to the caller.
However, the victim later called Dinergy and found that the information was false.
She said thus far, no funds had been taken from her bank account.

Johnston reported he arrived home about 10:45 p.m. that evening and noticed that a safe at the home had been entered and three firearms were missing from it — a 12 gauge pump shotgun, a 20-gauge pump shotgun and a 20-gauge single shot shotgun.
He also noted that three prescription medications also were missing from his home. Johnston named a possible suspect, and additional investigation is needed.
