Two brothers were charged Tuesday after an 11:35 p.m. fight outside a Whispering Pine Apartment residence, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
Hunter L. Johnston, 20, of 700 Township Road 179, Apt. 10C, was charged with disorderly conduct and underage consumption of alcohol while Ty G. Oakley, 22, at large, was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Oakley was staying with Johnston for a few days but became belligerent after drinking too much alcohol. Johnston tried to get Oakley to go to bed, but the visitor would not cooperate.
At one point, he grabbed a knife and threatened to cut himself.
Johnston got the knife from Oakley and a struggle ensued. The fight spilled out of the apartment and Johnston soon got the better of his brother.
Oakley was found outside with visible injuries to his torso and face including a swollen left eye. He was transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment but he refused to cooperate.
Officers gave Oakley a chance to find a place to stay but he unable to reach anyone. He was taken into custody at the hospital and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Johnston also had injuries but did not require medical attention. He admitted drinking whiskey that evening.
Man charged with domestic violence
Brent Davis, 48, of 725 Eastern Ave., was charged with domestic violence on Saturday.
Officers arrived at the residence around 10:15 p.m. and met with Jennifer M. Harte, of the same address. She told officers they were in the rear yard by a campfire when he became angry and began calling her names. He allegedly slapped her face and struck her face with a belt.
There were visible injuries to the victim and her glasses were broken.
He was found passed out in a bedroom. He was taken into custody and lodged in jail.
Driver faces OVI charge
Corey A. Truesdale, 31, of Urbana, was arrested Saturday for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for having an open can of alcohol in a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, following too closely and not using a safety belt.
At 12:50 a.m., an officers observed a southbound sport utility vehicle nearly strike the rear of another vehicle at Main Street and Auburn Avenue. The SUV also was weaving within the lane and down the middle of Washington Avenue after turning from Main.
Officers noticed signs of alcohol use and initiated field sobriety tests which indicated Truesdale was impaired by alcohol. His breathalyzer sample was 0.194.
