Two Benjamin Logan High School sophomores were charged Friday after possessing a cigarette lighter that looked and functioned like a small revolver.
Kyle Richardson, 15, of 185 Rush St., Rushsylvania, and Dominic Ervin, 15, of 416 N. County Road 142, West Mansfield, each was charged with delinquency counts of illegal possession of prescription drugs, inducing panic and disorderly conduct.
Deputies and detectives of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were called to the school at 11:25 a.m. to investigate a student with a gun.
School officials searched Kyle and his backpack after several witnesses reported he was showing it off in classes.
It was no longer in his possession, but deputies were able to find it in Dominic’s backpack after witnesses helped identify him.
At first, he denied concealing the items for Kyle, but later admitted he agreed to hide the lighter.
A blue bottle with pills also was recovered along with a vapor dispensing device.
