Tony L. Beverly, 16, of 139 N. Main St., West Mansfield, was charged with making false alarms early this morning after he allegedly made false reports regarding a house fire.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 1:30 a.m. to meet with Chief Steve Fields of the Bokescreek Township Fire Department concerning a false alarm.
The fire department reportedly had been dispatched to a residence on Center Street in West Mansfield after the Union County Sheriff’s Office had received a report of a house filled with smoke. Firefighters were unable to locate any type of emergency in the area.
Chief Fields contacted the UCSO dispatch center and determined that similar calls were made the previous week requesting assistance at a north Main Street address in West Mansfield.
Firefighters and deputies then spoke with Tony and discovered that he had made the calls to the UCSO. He was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center.
