A delinquency complaint has been filed in a Monday incident during which a 10-year-old boy received a tattoo while his mother recorded a video of it with her cellular phone.
Kyle Richardson, 16, of 8988 King Road, Lakeview, has been charged with two counts of tattooing prohibitions, both misdemeanors of the fourth-degree if committed by an adult. He is currently lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center on an unrelated issue.
According to the Logan County Juvenile Court complaint filed by the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office, Kyle performed a tattoo “procedure in a manner that does not meet the safety and sanitations standards” set by state law.
He also did not meet “standards for appropriate disinfection and sterilization of invasive equipment or parts of equipment.”
The boy’s mother has not been charged, but the case is under review by the Bellefontaine Municipal Court prosecutor’s office.
The mother posted videos of the tattooing online drawing authorities’ attention to the incident.
Under state law, minors can receive tattoos with parental consent, but it must be done in a safe and sanitary manner.
