VanWINKLE |
Jaime M. VanWinkle, 33, of Dayton, was charged Thursday with theft, identity theft, possession of cocaine and possession of drug abuse instruments.
Around 10:20 p.m., officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department met with loss prevention staff at Walmart, 2281 S. Main St., who had detained VanWinkle after she tried to leave without paying for clothing items.
She identified herself as Brittni VanWinkle. While talking with her, an officer observed that her pupils were pinpoint and barely reacted to changes in light indicating she may be under the influence of drugs.
A search of her purse found three hypodermic needles, three pills and a capsule with white powder. She admitted it was cocaine but maintained the items belonged to other people.
The officer also found identification for Jaime VanWinkle in the purse. Two people who came with her also provided a correct identification. She was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
