Christopher A. Carpenter, 16, of 525 Hamilton St., Bellefontaine, was charged with assault and persistent disorderly conduct related to an incident between him and another student at Bellefontaine High School Wednesday afternoon.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department working at the school received a report from the associate principal about 12:40 p.m. about a fight that had occurred in the boys locker room after gym class involving Christopher and Austin Stewart, 15.
Officers spoke with Christopher, who reported that he and Austin at first were “joking around” and throwing deodorant at each other. He said he then got toilet paper wet and threw it at his classmate. He said Austin spit on a paper towel and threw it at him, and that he retaliated by hitting Austin two or three times in the face.
Austin told officers that during the incident, Christopher allegedly put him in a headlock and put the towel with spit on it in his face. He also said Christopher then hit him several times. Officers observed that Austin’s face was red and slightly swollen and he had scratches on his neck. No injuries were observed to Christopher.
