Building fund obligations completed
About 40 Bellefontaine Middle School students are participating in a new and innovative after-school program this year, and several of the pupils and their adviser attended the Monday evening board of education meeting to request permission to take a trip to Purdue University during December.
TECHFIT, or Teaching Engineering Concepts to Harness Future Innovators and Technologists, combines elements of exercise and technology by teaching students how to make “exergames” by utilizing various computer programs and applications, including Scratch, a visual programming language, and Nano Navigator. This type of technology also is used in factories to control robots, pupils noted.
“It’s a fantastic program — I like that it combines two groups of students, the tech students and the athletic students,” group member Micah Woolf said of TECHFIT.
