Suspected marijuana and pills were recovered from the scene of a traffic stop conducted Friday about 4:45 p.m. in the area of State Route 274 and County Road 61.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol observed a blue pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed, and initiated the stop.
Upon making contact with the motorist, Joseph Aldo, 29, of Bellefontaine officers noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. While conducting a consent search of the pickup truck, officers noticed Aldo moving something underneath his clothing in an apparent attempt to conceal something.
A pat down search was conducted, and officers found a black and gray bag in Aldo’s pants that contained a bag of marijuana, a blue and white cut straw consistent in the use for snorting pills, and eight yellow pills identified as a scheduled controlled substance.
The suspect was charged with possession of a dangerous drug, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Aldo was also issued a citation for speeding and lodged in Logan County Jail.
• Timothy Kretzer Jr., 53, of Russells Point, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop about 9 p.m. Monday.
Officers from Washington Township Police Department observed a pickup on State Route 708 south of Russells Point and a known suspended driver driving the vehicle.
Officers initiated the traffic stop and while speaking with Kretzer, officers observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from this person.
The defendant stated he consumed two beers, and then stated he had been drinking all day. Kretzer failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. At the jail, he submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.204 blood alcohol content.
He also was cited for driving without a license and a failure to reinstate suspension from a prior OVI. Kretzer has prior OVI’s in 1989, 1998, 2005, 2008 and 2015.
