Timothy M. Stewart, 328 E. Brown Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged Monday with theft from a person of a protected class, misuse of credit cards, identity fraud against a person in a protected class and forgery.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a report Feb. 26 from a 67-year-old West Mansfield man who said his debit card had been used in a total of nine unauthorized purchases. He said he did not currently possess his debit card and he did not know if his debit card had been lost or stolen.
The fraudulent purchases were made at Bernie’s Drive Thru, 829 N. Main St.; Varsity Drive Thru, 1324 S. Main St.; Oasis Drive Thru, 405 S. Main St.; McDonald’s, 1780 S. Main St., and two Speedway stores, all in Bellefontaine, and also Waffle House in Marysville and at a CVS Pharmacy.
Deputies visited the local businesses and were able to obtain surveillance footage from some of the establishments, along with a license plate number from the suspect’s vehicle.
Stewart was the registered owner of the vehi- cle. He was placed under arrest Monday and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
