Virgil A. Hinkle, 58, of Bellefontaine, was arrested Tuesday for assault, criminal damaging, aggravated trespass and aggravated menacing.
Heather R. Theis, 1100 Heritage Court, told officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department the suspect was at her residence after 7 p.m. Monday and became belligerent. She asked him to leave and he allegedly lunged from a seated position on her couch, knocking her down.
She fell into a table and knocked over a framed picture, which broke the glass. Hinkle then allegedly picked up shard and threatened to cut her.
He also allegedly kicked her in the side while she was on the floor and stomped on her right foot.
Hinkle returned to the apartment around 4:25 p.m. Tuesday and was apprehended with several cans of beer, one of which was open.
He claimed Theis hit him with her walking cane. Officers noted bruising on Hinkle’s face and nose.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
